How to Measure Shoulders
To gauge your Todd Shelton sweatshirt size, you can measure a sweatshirt you already own.
If you do not own a sweatshirt, you can find your fit using a t-shirt and following our T-Shirt Measuring Guide. All Todd Shelton tops (shirts, t-shirts, and sweatshirts) are sized to correlate across categories.
Start with your best fitting sweatshirt through the shoulders. Lay your sweatshirt face down on a rigid table (not a bed or other soft surface) like shown below. Measure from shoulder point to shoulder point.
Measure again to make sure your measurements are consistent. Match your measurement to the list below.
- Labeled Size = Shoulder Measurement
- S = 16 1/2
- S/M = 17
- M = 17 1/2
- M/L = 18
- L = 18 1/2
- L/XL = 19
- XL = 19 1/2
- XL/2XL = 20
- 2XL = 20 1/2
- 2XL/3XL = 21
- 3XL = 21 1/2
Think about how you would change the shoulder fit to make it fit better.
How to Measure Chest
Chest is measured 1″ below the armholes, across the sweatshirt.
Measure your best fitting sweatshirt across the chest – this may be the same or a different sweatshirt than you used for the shoulder measurement. Lay your sweatshirt face up on a rigid table and measure 1″ below the armhole, across the sweatshirt (like shown below).
Measure again to make sure your measurements are consistent. Match your measurement to the list below.
- Labeled Size = Chest Measurement
- S = 19
- S/M = 20
- M = 21
- M/L = 22
- L = 23
- L/XL = 24
- XL = 25
- XL/2XL = 26
- 2XL = 27
- 2XL/3XL = 28
- 3XL = 29
When matching your shoulder and chest measurements to the lists above, you may find your shoulder and chest match up to different sizes in our list. In this case, put more emphasis on the shoulder measurement when selecting your size.
Sleeve Length
Sleeve Length requires basic math to calculate. To calculate Sleeve Length, you need to combine two measurements: 1) your sleeve length and 2) half of your shoulder width (the width of the shoulders has an impact on sleeve length).
How to Measure Sleeve Length
To gauge your sleeve length, you can measure a sweatshirt you already own.
Choose your sweatshirt with the best sleeve length. First, measure down the sleeve, from top of the shoulder seam to end of cuff, like shown above. Next, measure across the shoulders (as we described earlier in the article), and divide by 2. Then add those two measurements.
For example, if your sleeve length measured 25″ and half of your total shoulder measurement is 9.5″ – your sleeve length totals 34.5″.
Overall Length
Your height and belly size will determine your necessary Overall Length option. We offer 5 Overall Length options.
- Length (Ranking of popularity)
- 2″ Shorter (2%)
- 1″ Shorter (7%)
- Standard (67%)
- 1″ Longer (16%)
- 2″ Longer (8%)
We recommend the bottom of the sweatshirt hem ends around mid-zipper or 1″ below mid-zipper of your jeans or pants.
How to Measure Overall Length
We measure Overall Length from the highest point of the shoulder down to sweatshirts bottom hem.
To gauge your overall length, you can measure a sweatshirt you already own.
Choose your sweatshirt with the best fitting length. Measure from neckband seam down to the bottom of hem, like shown above. Using the size you determined during the Size (Chest and Shoulders) section earlier in the article, compare your measurement to the list below.
- Labeled Size = Standard Length Measurement
- S = 25
- S/M = 25 1/2
- M = 26
- M/L = 26 1/2
- L = 27
- L/XL = 27 1/2
- XL = 28
- XL/2XL = 28 1/2
- 2XL = 29
- 2XL/3XL = 29 1/2
- 3XL = 30
Think about how you would change the length to make it fit better.
The list above only shows Standard Length options. Length options are also available in 2″ Shorter, 1″ Shorter, 1″ Longer, and 2″ Longer – than Standard. For a complete list of length option measurements, see our Sweatshirt Size Chart.
