Shirts for tall men

Todd Shelton makes all-cotton button-up shirts for men over 6'4". Each shirt is individually cut in the USA with sleeve lengths and body lengths scaled for taller men.

Why button-up shirts fit poorly on tall men

Standard shirts are cut for a man between 5'10" and 6'1". A man over 6'4" wearing a standard shirt gets a sleeve that ends well above the wrist, a body length that rides up at the waist when arms are raised, and a torso that pulls tight through the chest and shoulders. The proportions are wrong before fit is even considered.

Todd Shelton cuts each shirt individually in the United States. Sleeve length and body length are selected at the time of order.

Sleeve length for tall men

Todd Shelton offers sleeve lengths from up 36 inches in one-inch increments. Men over 6'4" typically wear a 35 or 36 inch sleeve. Full sleeve length measurements are in the size chart.

Measure down the sleeve from the top of the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff. Measure across the shoulders and divide by 2. Add the two measurements together. For example, if your sleeve length measures 28 inches and half your shoulder width is 9 inches, your sleeve length is 37 inches.

Shirt length for tall men

Todd Shelton offers body lengths from standard to 3 inches longer than standard in one-inch increments. Men over 6'4" typically wear 1 to 3 inches longer than standard. Full body length measurements are in the size chart.

Your height and tucking preference determine your ideal body length. Todd Shelton measures body length along the placket — the strip of fabric running down the center front of the shirt where the buttons and buttonholes are located — from the seam where the collar band meets the placket to the bottom hem.

If wearing untucked, the hem should end at the middle of the zipper. If wearing tucked, the shirt should stay tucked when reaching above your head.

Sleeve lengths longer than 36 inches

37 inch sleeve length is available through Keys to the Factory, a made-to-order method with no returns. New customers should establish size and fit through a Standard or a Fit check shirts first, then exchange for 37 sleeve length.
