A lot is at stake with this product release. As you probabaly know, we occasionally challenge core fabrics to ensure our core fabrics are the best on the market. With this release we're challenging our El Capitan fabric.
Our current El Capitan fabric has been running for 3 years. It comes from a woolen mill located in Connecticut. It's performed well, customers like it, we like it.
But recently, with dress codes becoming more casual in offices, we're interested in how our El Capitan product can better fit into offices of the future for more guys; as dark jeans and khakis become more popular choices.
Our search started with a trip to the mill in Connecticut to discuss this idea. But the search ended with a mill in Italy that specializes in blending wools and cottons.
The current El Capitan fabric is 100% wool, it could be used as a traditonal suiting fabric - it could look like a suit separate. This new fabric is 68% wool, 32% cotton, it will still drape and perform like all wool, but it has a more natural ease due to the cotton content.
The new fabric is 10% heavier than the current El Capitan, and still a perfect year round weight. The color is predominately dark grey, with hints of navy.
If you opt into this product, you will receive more post-order follow ups from our product team than a normal product. We'll be looking to get your reaction to how this new fabric compares to your El Cap's or other wool trousers you own. You can opt out of the follow ups if you prefer.
