Do-It-Yourself T-Shirt Measuring
A guide for t-shirt measuring. To determine your correct size to order when buying a new t-shirt, use your best fitting t-shirt as a guide. Todd Shelton t-shirt sizing charts can be seen here.
T-shirt Measuring – Chest
Lay t-shirt on a flat surface and smooth out any creases. At one inch below the armhole, measure across the chest. Measuring two t-shirts will produce more accurate results.
Size | S | S/M | M | M/L | L | L/XL | XL | XL Plus |
Inch | 18 ¼ | 19 ¼ | 20 ¼ | 21 ¼ | 22 ¼ | 23 ¼ | 24 ¼ | 25 ¼ |
The shirt is narrow by half an inch at the bottom opening in relation to the above chest measurements.
T-shirt Measuring – Shoulder
To determine shoulder measurement, lay t-shirt front side down and measure straight across from left top shoulder point to right top shoulder point.
Size | S | S/M | M | M/L | L | L/XL | XL | XL Plus |
Inch | 16 ⅜ | 16 ⅞ | 17 ⅜ | 17 ⅞ | 18 ⅜ | 18 ⅞ | 19 ⅜ | 19 ⅞ |
Sleeve Length
To determine sleeve length you will need to measure your t-shirt’s shoulder and sleeve. Measure from top shoulder point to the end of the sleeve, add this measurement to half of the shoulder measurement from from your own t-shirt to find your sleeve length.
32/33 = 33 1/2, stabilizing at 33 after laundering
34/35 = 35 1/2, stabilizing at 35
36/37 = 37, stabilizing at 36 1/2
Overall Length
To determine overall length, lay shirt your t-shirt on a flat surface and measure from the highest point (beside the neckband) down to the bottom hem.
