Hemp is designed to be short sleeve exclusively. Its purpose is for year round wear in warmer climates and two season wear in colder climates.
The uneven, slubby nature of hemp yarns create a visual texture on the fabric surface. For solid colored, short sleeve shirts, the visual texture is important to making the shirt unique.
At 126 gm, Hemp is a mid-weight fabric. It's soft, yet durable.
Hemp is considered a strong fiber. “4x stronger than cotton,” hemp proponents claim. From our testing, we believe the strength shows up best during washing and care. It’s easy to launder, press, and holds its shape well.
Other claimed benefits of hemp: naturally anti-microbial resisting bacteria, filters UV light for skin protection, and retains color better.
Hemp is considered an eco-friendly fabric, made of fibers from the cannabis plant. Cannabis requires less water, less pesticides to grow and yields more efficient crops (better land use) compared to cotton and flax (linen). Hemp is a bio-degradable fiber.
