T-shirt weight affects comfort.<\/p><\/div>\n

When evaluating a T-shirt’s quality, obvious elements to consider include fit, cotton quality, and color. But what about t-shirt weight?<\/p>\n

The standard weight for men\u2019s t-shirts ranges about 5 oz. from lightweight to heavyweight. The lightweights can be luxurious. And the heavyweights have perceived value in durability. But both have drawbacks. Let\u2019s take a look at t-shirt weight options and premium weight t-shirts.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Lightweight<\/h2>\n

Luxury brands create a buzz with their buttery soft fabrics because they\u2019re lightweight and drapey. When you feel them at the store, it\u2019s an \u201coh my goodness, this is so soft reaction.\u201d<\/p>\n

The luxury brands take lightweight, high-quality cotton fabrics and load them with enzymes and softeners to create that super-soft hand. The result is airy-weight and soft feel against the skin which should make for your next favorite t-shirt. But beware\u2026<\/p>\n

When we were testing the best t-shirt weight for Todd Shelton t-shirts, we developed a range of fabric weights, made t-shirts, then wore them and studied the results.<\/p>\n

We included a lightweight, buttery soft t-shirt in our testing.<\/p>\n

The lightweight fabric felt great against the skin, but the t-shirt was so soft it became limp. The fabric languished on the body. The drapiness showed every curve of the chest and waistline–and that was the problem.<\/p>\n

If we knew a better way to say this we would (if you\u2019re squeamish, don\u2019t read this paragraph): the lightweight fabric shows nipples and the curve of the boob, and the exact location of any belly rolls when you\u2019re sitting relaxed.<\/p>\n

Since we believe it\u2019s our job to make our customers look better, we eliminated the lightweight, buttery-soft t-shirt from our testing. Now you know.<\/p>\n

The Heavyweight<\/h2>\n

The risk of a heavy t-shirt weight is that you feel it – as<\/em> you wear it. Due to the weight, it\u2019s warmer than necessary and doesn\u2019t move as freely. It may last for decades, but you may not want it lingering around for that long.<\/p>\n

The Todd Shelton Weight<\/h2>\n

If there were a scale showing standard men\u2019s t-shirt weight options, with 1 being the lightest and 5 the heaviest; the Todd Shelton t-shirt<\/a> would be a steady 3.4.<\/p>\n

Our t-shirt weight could never be confused with lightweight, yet it\u2019s not unnecessarily heavy either. It\u2019s simply substantial.<\/p>\n

Through our testing, we found a substantial weight fabric helped maintain a consistent shape. The (slightly) heavier fabric stands on its own and doesn\u2019t cling to the body.<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t possess the \u201cfashion\u201d of a luxury brand t-shirt. Instead, it looks like a high-quality American man’s\u00a0t-shirt. It compliments his shape no matter what kind of shape he is in.<\/p>\n

The sturdiness of the fabric will ensure the t-shirt can absorb years of wearing and washing.<\/p>\n

The Cotton<\/h2>\n

Todd Shelton t-shirts are made from 100% combed cotton, considered the best internationally. The fabric is from Portugal.<\/p>\n
