Understanding our Generous and Trim Pant fit options

February 10th, 2010 in Pants

We offer two pant fits:  a Generous Flat Front and a Trim Flat Front.  Our Generous Flat Front was our original pant fit and is still our most popular.  It fits most guys just right, it is slightly relaxed, but by no means an oversized pant.

The Trim Flat Front was developed in 2009.  This pant is not a skinny pant.  We designed it to look similar to our Generous Flat Front, keeping the proportions consistent, only reducing the roominess in a few key areas.

It’s important to know these two fit options are similar.  We’re not comparing apples to oranges.  We’re comparing Fuji apples to Red Delicious apples.  And in our efforts to tweak a guy into a perfect fit, these two fit options are necessary.

Compare the fit points in the image above.  1. Hip circumference / 2. Crotch (rise) / 3. Knee circumference / 4. Bottom Opening.  Each point shows the Generous Flat Front will offer slightly more room than the Trim Flat Front.

Choosing the right pant fit for you

Selecting the best Todd Shelton pant fit may be as simple as deciding, “Do I like my pants to be a little roomy or do I like a trimmer fitting pant?”  For guys that have normal to full legs, we recommend our Generous Flat Front.  For guys with leaner legs, we’d start with our Trim Flat Front.  Beyond leg size, it becomes a style decision.

We’re here to help.  If you have any fit questions, please contact us.  If we ship you one fit and you decide the other fit may work better, just let us know and we can easily exchange, it won’t cost you anything extra.
