We focus on keeping design simple and consistent. Simplicity, when done right: creates the pieces that you wear most often, enables your style to sustain time, and helps build an identity that will not diminish your credibility (a potential risk if you repeatedly embrace trends).

Consistency ensures your wardrobe works together. A consistent wardrobe certainly has advantages: dressing well becomes simple, your clothing transitions seamlessly, and you develop a consistent identity (with your style), that others come to respect.

Yet simplicity and consistency is a design philosophy only, a guide to help create the pieces in a collection. How that philosophy is applied with the core of the garment; the cut, construction and quality of the fabric – will determine if a garment becomes exceptional or forgettable.

Todd Shelton is only available here at toddshelton.com. We do not sell through retail stores. Selling direct means we can build a relationship with each customer and better understand their needs. It also lowers our prices; enabling us to sell American construction and exclusive fabrics at affordable prices.

About Todd Shelton

I moved to New York from Tennessee at 25 with the intention of building what would become Todd Shelton (the brand). I spent my first few years learning the direct-to-consumer clothing business from an established New York clothing catalog.

After work I attended night classes at the Parson’s School of Design, where I learned the basics of clothing construction; pattern making, technical design, and sewing.

Two years after arriving in New York I created my first shirt. I needed a place to sell it and I knew wholesaling was not the future for Todd Shelton (I wanted to be in direct contact with the guys wearing our clothing).

So I took to the streets of New York City to see if I could find customers willing to try a new brand. I set up a booth in Soho and sold my shirts on the weekends, and from that start in 2002 emerged Todd Shelton (the brand).
